About Capital Claims

What is a Public Adjuster?

When you have an insurance claim you can hire someone to be your representation. Many homeowners think that the only other course of action when dealing with your carrier is to hire an attorney. Public adjusters have been around for over 70 years and are advocates for the homeowner. When you have a claim your insurance company will send out one of their adjusters, who typically will be looking for their best interests but who’s looking out for your best interests? Our job is to take the stress off your shoulders and handle the insurance company from start to finish. All licensed adjusters must be registered with the department of financial services, which is the governing agency of our industry.

Benefits of a Public Adjuster

A public adjuster provides value in numerous ways. The same reason a lot of people hire accountants to file their taxes is the same reason people hire public adjusters when they have a claim, it’s just something you’re not accustomed to. A good public adjuster will be able to maximize your claim for what it's worth, a lot of times paying for themselves tenfold. An independent study done by the Office of Program Policy Analysis and Government Accountability states that using a public adjuster on average will result in a 747% higher settlement. Not only will you typically result in a higher settlement but we take the hassle of the claim away. We handle all inspections and communications, which will free up your time and let you get back to your daily routine. Insurance claims can be very stressful, knowing someone is looking out for you will relieve a lot of stress.

How the Process Works

Here at Capital Claims we can open a new claim for you or reopen an existing one. In both cases we handle all the documentation needed to properly present your claim to the insurance company. We will evaluate, estimate, photograph and document everything that has happened to your home relevant to the loss. We will then present all of this information to your carrier with evidence to back up your claim. Throughout this process we will be present for any inspection that your insurance company is requesting, as your representation we make sure to physically be there. We will then negotiate a claim on your behalf but only finally settle at a figure that you agree on. We will never settle a claim without the homeowner’s approval. In the rare instance that there is no recovery we only work off a contingency basis, if you don’t get paid - we don’t get paid.
