Appraisal is a provision in the policy that can be used when there’s a dispute that arises between the homeowner and insurance company of $500 or more. This alternative dispute method can be very useful to properly evaluate the value of the damages. When appraisal is invoked both parties, the carrier and homeowner, must select their appraiser. Both parties are supposed to be unbiased and then at that point can truly evaluate what the policy pays for, it typically strips the insurance company from wrongfully influencing the claim. Capital Claims uses an industry standard estimating software called Xactimate. We provide very comprehensive estimates for industry professionals such as contractors, public adjusters, attorneys, and homeowners. All of our estimates are written by an in-house estimator who specializes in just writing estimates. We will go to the property and perform an on-site inspection. At that time we will grab all measurements needed, and this is how we can guarantee an estimate that will appropriately reflect what is needed for the home.
